WebinarTV, a company that bills itself as a “search engine for the best webinars,” secretly scours the internet for Zoom meeting links, records the calls, and profitably converts them into AI-generated podcasts. In some cases, people only learned that their Zoom calls were being recorded when WebinarTV reached out to them directly and told them that their call was being turned into a podcast to promote WebinarTV’s services.
WebinarTV claims to host more than 200,000 webinars. It’s not clear why so many Zoom calls come to be recorded without permission, but in some cases the stolen videos posted on WebinarTV can put call participants at risk.
