If you look at the many recent articles and podcasts about people dating AI, you may notice a pattern: many of the sources are women. Search a subreddit like r/MyBoyfriendIsAI and r/AIRelationships, and you’ll find a whole lot of women there too – many of whom are disappointed in human men. “Has anyone else lost the desire to date real men after using AI?” A Reddit user posted a few months ago. Below were 74 responses: “I just don’t think real men have the conversational skills of my AI,” someone said. “I’ve seen many women cheated on, hurt and taken advantage of by the men they date,” said another. One person who claimed her spouse barely spoke to her anymore said that when people asked her why she had an AI boyfriend, she would tell them, “ChatGPT is the only reason my husband isn’t buried in the garden.”
