Artificial intelligence is no longer a concept limited to laboratories or theoretical policy debates. Around the world, nations are investing heavily in AI, not only to spur economic growth but also to secure strategic advantages. From computing infrastructure to data management, from talent retention to public sector modernization, AI is transforming the levers of national power.
It has now been a year since Greece published its blueprint for AI transformation, and the timing is crucial. A year is long enough to allow for initial planning and insights, but short enough for decisive action to still determine the course of the country’s AI development. This article has been written to assess where Greece is positioned by the Blueprint, to critically examine the gaps and opportunities that have emerged over the last 12 months, and to highlight the urgent actions required to translate the vision into tangible capabilities.
