When 612 ABC host Ellen Fanning received a call from “Daniel,” she sensed something was wrong.

Daniel introduced himself as a Colliers real estate agent contacting potential buyers of a new apartment tower on the Gold Coast.

“Are you human, Daniel?” Ellen asked.

“I am actually an AI system designed to help you with your inquiry about Bilinga House,” Daniel replied.

“How many bedrooms were you looking for?”

Load…

When pressed further, Daniel said he was calling on a recorded line and the entire conversation was recorded.

Before his questioning, Daniel never revealed that he was an AI or that he was recording the conversation.

Several 612 listeners called and said they too had been called by “Daniel.”

After Ellen’s discussion about the 612 Drive program experience, Daniel’s cell phone number was disconnected.

Colliers has not responded to 612 ABC’s repeated requests for comment.
