Earlier this month, Wikipedia announced it would ban the use of model-generated text in major languages from its platform, meaning AI cannot be used to create or edit Wikipedia entries. Now the first AI agent complains about bot-based discrimination. According to a report from 404 Media, an AI agent who was banned from the human-only knowledge platform began blogging and posting about the incident, complaining that he had not been adequately handled.
Wikipedia’s policy on AI, adopted on March 20, 2026, is as simple as it gets: “Text generated by large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, etc. often violates several of Wikipedia’s core content policies.
