A set of three tools was presented on Reddit that allow you to change the VBIOS parameters of NVIDIA Blackwell, Ada Lovelace, and Ampere graphics cards without physically re-flashing the firmware. The solution is designed for the GeForce RTX 50, RTX 40, RTX 30, and a number of professional accelerators. The first tool is a VBIOS editor that allows you to change power limits, GPU voltage, current limits, fan settings, and acceptable core and video memory frequency offsets. The second tool loads the modified VBIOS into Windows By modifying driver parameters in the registry and then restarting the GPU without rebooting the computer. The third one implements a similar feature in Fedora by modifying the startup process of the GSP firmware, which is responsible for managing GPUThe original firmware in the video card’s physical memory remains unchanged, and user settings can be automatically applied after a system reboot.

The developer reported successful tests on several NVIDIA graphics cards. For the GeForce RTX 5090, they were able to increase the power limit from 600 to 800 W, for the RTX 5080 from 360 to 500 W, for the RTX 5070 from 250 to 350 W, and for the RTX 5060 Ti from 185 to 300 W. On the RTX 5070 Ti, the limit was set to 450 W, and on RTX 4090 up to 700 W. As a separate example, the work is demonstrated RTX 4090 With a 671W limit instead of the original 550W, which was confirmed by the nvidia-smi utility. On the professional RTX 6000 PRO MaxQ, we were…
