NVIDIA is expanding its AI software ecosystem for semiconductor manufacturers, with new tools designed to speed up chip simulations, detect defects and help engineers test manufacturing changes before they reach production, an official news release noted.

The company announced on October 14 that semiconductor firms, including Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens and Lam Research, are adopting its CUDA-X libraries and other accelerated computing technologies to advance what NVIDIA calls AI-defined fabs. These are semiconductor factories where AI helps engineers optimize manufacturing processes, identify production problems and improve chip yields.

The expanded portfolio includes NVIDIA cuPotential, a new library that developers can use to build AI agents capable of simulating interactions between atoms and molecules. NVIDIA said the library could help researchers model semiconductor materials faster, while other tools are designed to accelerate chip design, manufacturing simulations, inspection and factory automation.

“The semiconductor industry made the AI revolution possible. Now, AI is transforming how chips are built,” said Tim Costa, vice president and general manager of industrial and computational engineering at NVIDIA.

“As fabs race to meet demand for advanced chips, NVIDIA CUDA-X and Omniverse libraries give AI agents accelerated simulation and inspection tools to help engineers manage complexity, improve yield and advance AI-defined fabs,”…
