Microsoft, xAI and Google will share AI models with US govt for security reviews

May 5 (Reuters) – Microsoft, Alphabet-owned Google and ‌Elon Musk’s xAI ‌will give the U.S. government ​early access to new artificial intelligence models before their public release ‌to ⁠allow checks for national security risks ⁠under a new deal.

The Center for AI ​Standards and ​Innovation ​at the ‌Department of Commerce announced the agreement on Tuesday, saying it would conduct pre-deployment evaluations and ‌targeted research ​to better ​assess ​AI capabilities and ‌advance AI security.

The ​companies ​did not immediately respond to requests for ​comment.
