Hundreds of Lowell Township residents pushback on Microsoft data center

Hundreds of residents attended a Lowell Township Planning Commission meeting Monday, angry about a proposed data center in their community.

Microsoft presented their plans showing renderings of the proposed site off I-96 and Cascade Road Southeast, with buildings similar to the size and appearance of a distribution warehouse.

Several neighbors are expressing their opposition by putting “no data center” signs in their yards.

“Lowell is such a great community and you hear about all the water that gets used and how it effects wells and that kind of stuff, and I just don’t want that to happen,” Lowell Township resident Dianne Macnaughton said.
