McDonald’s has decided to end its global partnership with IBM for testing AI-powered drive-thru technology. The fast-food giant had been experimenting with automated order takers at select locations since 2021. While this specific partnership is coming to an end, McDonald’s is not ruling out the possibility of exploring other AI-powered drive-thru solutions in the future, including voice ordering. Customers may still encounter chatbots in the drive-thru as the company continues to innovate in this area.
