According to DownDetector.com, Anthropic’s AI chatbot appeared to experience a brief outage on Wednesday afternoon as problems were reported by thousands of users, although the AI startup said a solution had been deployed to fix the problem.

The problems with Anthropic’s Claude appeared to increase shortly after noon EST, and according to DownDetector, more than 4,700 users reported problems with the platform as of 1:05 p.m., although reports fell below 200 before 1:30 p.m
About 45% of the issues were reported with Claude Chat, while 25% reported issues accessing Claude Code and another 19% reported issues with the Claude app.
Claude’s status page showed a “partial outage” of the Claude desktop app, which Anthropic said failed to open for some users before a fix was deployed just before noon. However, “increased errors” were still displayed with Claude Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6.
