Google is the company behind the initiative previously known as Project Bosc, the Allen Economic Development Group announced Monday. The tech company will build a $500 million data center in Lima, marking one of the largest private-sector investments in the history of the region.
The project represents a $500 million capital investment in Allen County and includes a $50 million investment dedicated to local infrastructure enhancements, including upgrades to regional wastewater, water supply, and roadway infrastructure.
Cynthia Leis, president and CEO of the AEDG, called the project a transformative turning point for the regional economy.
“We are not just creating jobs; we are reinforcing infrastructure, supporting our educational institutions, and safeguarding our community’s future,” Leis said.
