Florida students boo valedictorian who called AI the “next industrial revolution.”

Although college graduations typically consist of a speaker giving advice to students, a recent ceremony featured an opportunity for students to give their opinion to the speaker – loudly.

The University of Central Florida’s Class of 2026, booed as a real estate developer, spoke about how “the rise of artificial intelligence is the next industrial revolution” and about “living in a time of profound change.”

The crowd of students was so loud that Gloria Caulfield paused, turned away from the podium and threw her hands in the air.

“Whoop, what happened?” she asked before laughing nervously, “Okay, I strummed a chord. Can I finish?”

As the crowd quieted, Caulfield moved on. “Just a few years ago, AI was not a factor in our lives.” That seemed to cheer her up – and sparked thunderous applause.

“We’re dealing with a bipolar issue here, I see,” Caulfield said, getting back on track for the third time: “AI capabilities are in our hands,” she said…
