Chinese satellite images enhanced with artificial intelligence could help Iran target U.S. and allied forces with an accuracy of a third of a square meter, military analysts say.
The ABC has revealed that the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has assessed that an AI tool used by Chinese company MizarVision poses a threat to US forces.
The technology identifies and marks military bases and other operations across wide areas.
Retired Australian Defense Force Major General Gus McLachlan said the military needed to consider Iran’s ability to potentially attack sites as small as 0.3 square meters.
“We are seeing targets, including a U.S. E-3 Sentry aircraft, being struck with incredible precision. Our forces would take this threat very seriously – and rightly so,” he said.
“The Australian government would be concerned. It is a plausible outcome that Australians could be killed by this capability.”
