British ministers consider quitting X over concerns about images from AI tools

British ministers are considering exiting

Anna Turley, leader of the Labor Party and minister without portfolio in the Cabinet Office, said on Friday that discussions were taking place within the government and the Labor Party about continued use of the social media platform controlled by Elon Musk.

The government is coming under increasing pressure to abandon X after the site was flooded with images, including sexualized and unclothed images of children, created by its AI tool Grok.

Turley told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “First and foremost, X needs to get its act together and stop this happening. It has the power to do this and we need to make sure there are clear consequences for doing so.”

She added: “It’s really, really important that we address this. These conversations are ongoing…”
