When it comes to AI infrastructure, AWS and NVIDIA are somewhat of a power couple. The two companies have a longstanding partnership dating back 16 years, focused on delivering NVIDIA-accelerated computing through AWS.
Now, the two powerhouses have announced a staggering expansion of this existing partnership which will, among other things — but this is certainly the standout headline — include the deployment of 2 million additional NVIDIA GPUs across AWS infrastructure between 2027 and 2028. The aim, according to Amazon, is to meet surging demand for AI infrastructure “from frontier labs, global enterprises, startups, and governments.”
Next-Gen Workloads
The 2 million additional GPUs, building on the more than 1 million NVIDIA GPUs AWS has previously committed to deploying beginning in 2026, will include NVIDIA’s Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra architectures. They’ll be deployed alongside NVIDIA Vera CPUs and other technologies, creating a powerful foundation for next-generation AI use cases.
