Anthropic will brief global financial watchdog on the impact of its AI model Claude Mythos, whose potential threat to cyber defenses has alarmed experts.
The US startup will discuss Mythos with the Financial Stability Board, chaired by Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey.
Anthropic has declined to publicly release Mythos after revealing that the company has advanced capabilities to uncover previously unknown vulnerabilities in IT systems – which could be exploited by hackers.
Instead, the company has given a group of technology companies and banks, including Apple and JP Morgan, access to the model to help them identify any vulnerabilities that Mythos may discover. The FSB plan, first reported by the Financial Times, was confirmed by a source familiar with discussions between the regulator and Anthropic.
