In recent years, the debate about AI and jobs has been largely hypothetical. Economists, tech executives, and policymakers have all managed to predict what roles AI could replace, often giving wildly different answers.
Now Anthropic – which just announced a new office in Sydney – has released data on how AI is actually being used at work, and the results complicate the usual automation narrative.
The company introduced a metric called “observed exposure,” which tracks how Claude is already being used in tasks in real workplaces, rather than theorizing what AI might do in the future.
