Amazon employee sues, alleging company silenced her after she reported rape by senior manager

Laura Danbom says she changed departments to avoid the manager she says sexually assaulted her. She says Amazon failed to protect her.

SEATTLE — An Amazon employee is suing the company, alleging it failed to adequately investigate her report that a senior manager raped her during a business trip, instructed her to stay silent and required her to continue working with him if she wanted to keep her position.

Laura Danbom filed the lawsuit Oct. 20 in King County Superior Court against Amazon.com Services, LLC. The complaint alleges a hostile work environment under Washington’s Law Against Discrimination and violations of the state’s Silenced No More Act.
