As artificial intelligence rapidly transforms the workplace, it is also changing the way people learn, develop expertise, and shape their professional identity. Although Gen AI promises to accelerate learning and increase productivity, it risks undermining the very experiences that foster mastery, deep thinking, empathy, and personal agency. The challenge for leaders is to ensure that, in the midst of this transformation, organizations consciously preserve the human experiences—struggle, choices, and interpersonal connections—that are critical to true development and flourishing.
