If you can, switch from the staff to a wand and a shield (NO focus if you’re HC).

Your first gem from the opening quest will be Frost bomb. With straight Frost bomb And volcano You can deal with Beira and the opening mobs in Clearfell.

If you find the small camp in Clearfell with an extra gem, take it spark. Your first support gem is Unleash for Spark.
