What looks like a game may be the next AI world model for training autonomous weapons

Google rolled out Project Genie to consumers this week. I wrote about it a few days ago, and most tech coverage has focused on the obvious applications of procedural game generation and creative world building. But defense analysts should sit up and take notice. What Google demonstrated is a world model that simulates physics at scale. A capability that can change the strategic calculus for physical and military AI.
While we know from public reports that the Pentagon has invested significantly in large language models for intelligence analysis and decision support, world models represent a different and arguably more consequential frontier. This class of AI can predict how physical environments evolve and how actions affect outcomes. For defense applications in the era of Hyperwar, that distinction is everything.
