Federal bureaucrats will have access to a ChatGPT-style artificial intelligence engine starting in 2026, and massive amounts of government data will be allowed to be uploaded to public AI platforms to encourage use of the technology across public services.
The government will also require departments to appoint a chief AI officer, streamline procurement of artificial intelligence services and move to a whole-of-government cloud policy to enable greater adoption of the technology.
