Willie Mays Highway, from Bay Bridge to Oracle Park, named after the Giants legend

Motorists traveling from the East Bay to 24 Willie Mays Plaza, Oracle Park, will now do so Willie Mays Highway.

On the birthday of the late Hall of Famer, the San Francisco Giants and the Say Hey Foundation, along with several state senators, announced that a roughly 2-mile stretch of Interstate 80 from Treasure Island to Oracle Park is now named in honor of Mays and signage is already installed.

The same section is also named after former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. The name is passed on.

Giants President and CEO Larry Baer said in a press release: “What an incredibly special way to honor Willie’s legacy. For generations, this stretch of I-80 at the Bay Bridge has brought Giants fans to San Francisco, and now it will forever bear Willie’s name – a lasting reminder of the joy and inspiration he brought to this city.”
