Why AI shouldn’t even be used to decide “simple” court cases

In just a few years, generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) has brought about significant change in many industries, from healthcare to education, entertainment, finance and law.

The use of genetic AI in court rulings poses significant risks for the judiciary. Incorrect results due to “hallucinated” information, discriminatory decisions, and lack of transparency are all concerns when this technology is introduced into courtrooms.

But a number of judges around the world have already used it in making decisions and writing judgments. For this reason, some jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, have issued guidelines for judges on the use of AI.
