Monday’s move came in a “risk-on” session for technology stocks. The technology sector rose 2.3%, making it the best-performing sector in the S&P 500, although overall market participation remained weak.
Only three of the 11 S&P sectors traded higher, while the forward-to-down ratio remained close to 0.4, suggesting gains were concentrated in a relatively small group of stocks.
Oracle technical analysis
Oracle is trading well above its key moving averages. The stock is 28.2% above its 20-day SMA, 43.6% above its 50-day SMA and 18.7% above its 200-day SMA.
This shows strong dynamics. It also suggests that the stock may be overextended. When a stock is so far above its trend lines, it can experience sharp pullbacks when buying pressure fades.
The longer-term constellation remains mixed. Oracle’s 50-day SMA remains below its 200-day SMA after a death cross in January. However, the 20-day SMA is now above the 50-day SMA. This indicates a short-term improvement in momentum.
The RSI also shows that the stock is getting hot….
