Wall Street has a big problem with AI data centers

It is no state secret that data centers, the physical locations that support the AI ​​boom with immense computing power, are energy guzzlers. Excluding cryptocurrency, data center operations already consume about 4.4 percent of the energy generated in the United States – a figure that will likely double or even triple by 2028.

As they use more and more energy, the cost of electricity for US residents has skyrocketed. Over the last year, data center power consumption has contributed to skyrocketing electricity prices for residents and increasing average prices across the country.

Americans, who never respond well to higher prices, react with overwhelming disgust. Campaigns against the construction of new data centers are now popping up everywhere a data center is planned, from large cities on the East Coast to small towns in the Midwest.

This is giving Wall Street a headache…
