Victoria surpasses NSW in AI data center gold rush

The chief executive of $17 billion data center giant CDC Data Centers says it has become much easier to get approvals for massive data centers in Victoria than elsewhere in Australia as states compete for lucrative investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Preparing to open the 19-year-old company’s first Melbourne location, Greg Boorer is at the forefront of an escalating data center gold rush as companies including CDC, AirTrunk, NextDC and Goodman Group vie to meet demand from AI giants and large local companies.
