VMware alternative VergeIO is announcing faster migrations off VMware and less complex remote site configs with VergeOS v26.2.
VergeIO has had fresh but unrevealed funding this year and ex-VMware execs have joined its board; former VMware CTO Kit Colbert and former VMware ecosystem leader Zia Yusuf. It also recruited a new CEO, Parag Patel, the former VP for World-Wide Sales, Hyperconverged Software, which is what VergeOS is; very hyperconverged. We understand VergeIO is making a strengthened push to be a VMware alternative for the several hundred thousand VMware customers facing Broadcom-owned VMware price rises. It aims to replace VMware by having a better and more cost-effective hyperconverged virtual machine product and by providing stronger AI support than VMware.
