UW-Madison engineering building gets M boost from former Cisco president, his wife

MADISON, Wis. — UW-Madison’s new state-of-the-art engineering center received another significant donation on Tuesday, this time from a pair of successful alumni.

John and Tashia Morgridge gave a $25 million gift for the project, which broke ground last year. John is the former president, CEO and chairman of the board for Cisco Systems, Inc. and Tashia is a special education and literacy intervention advocate. Both graduated from UW-Madison in 1955.

From business to education, we’ve seen how collaboration sparks progress,” the Morgridges said in a statement. “We were inspired by the vision for a place where people and ideas intersect — where students, faculty and industry partners learn from one another and turn shared discovery into real impact.”
