UW lands M AI investment | Musk seeks up to 4B from Microsoft and OpenAI

The University of Washington is getting a major boost for its AI ambitions: a new $10 million federal investment to expand the computing infrastructure behind data‑intensive research. 

Speaking with GeekWire during a visit to the UW campus, Sen. Patty Murray framed the funding as a necessary counterweight to an AI ecosystem increasingly shaped by private capital: “If just billionaires are creating and using AI for their own projects that make money, then we lose out on most of the benefits of AI.”  Read more.
