NEW DELHI: American technology companies, including Amazon, Apple, Broadcom, ciscoMetaplatforms, Hewlett Packard Company (HPE) and Intel Corporation have jointly opposed Jio Trust and Vodafone Idea(Vi) demand to allocate spectrum in the upper 6 GHz band for IMT (mobile) services.
Instead, big technology companies have sought to assign the entire 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi services.
“We respectfully submit that spectrum should not be auctioned in the 6425-6725 MHz and 7025-7125 MHz ranges for IMT in the upcoming auction. This is because the technical and commercial readiness for IMT in the 6 GHz band is not established,” they said in a joint comment to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of IndiaTRAI consultation document for next round of spectrum auction.
