President Donald Trump has drafted an executive order that would prevent states from enforcing regulations related to artificial intelligence, renewing a push to deregulate AI that has raised concerns among tech security advocates and state lawmakers on both sides.
The draft order directs the U.S. attorney general to create an AI Litigation Task Force to challenge state AI laws and preempt Trump’s laxer federal policies, according to a copy seen by CNN.
The rapidly evolving technology is already subject to little oversight as it expands into more areas of life – from personal communications and relationships to health care and policing.
