Australia’s growing AI ecosystem is producing a surprising beneficiary: commerce. New data from Seek’s AI display The report shows that demand for AI-related skills in job advertisements has more than tripled over the last decade.
One of the most noticeable changes associated with AI concerns the physical infrastructure that makes it work, particularly the construction and support of data centers.
Unlike aggregate job advertisements, which declined in 2023, AI-related advertisements stopped their decline and began to rise again.
The roles in the data center followed much the same path before diverging. According to Seek’s analysis, data center-related job postings followed the same broad movements as AI job postings, remaining largely flat in 2024 and then seeing a steep increase in 2025.
