On Wednesday, March 4, several technology companies, including Meta, signed what’s being called the “Ratepayer Protection Pledge” at the White House.
MONROVIA, Ind. — From his property in Monrovia, just southwest of Indianapolis, Chris Lamberson can see the early stages of Google’s new data center campus, where heavy equipment and machinery are already busy carving out land where the campus will live.
For Lamberson, the project isn’t just another development — it’s something he says is already negatively impacting his monthly utility bill.
“We’re just right over the hill from this data center, and the electric rates are just insane,” Lamberson said.
Indiana has seen itself at the crossroads of a data center gold rush: a big push by big tech to buy up land needed to house data center facilities.
