An artificial intelligence feature developed by Perplexity AI is drawing attention across the startup ecosystem after the company claimed the system replaced an entire marketing technology stack worth about $225,000 per year within a single weekend.
The tool, called Perplexity “Computer,” is designed as an AI assistant capable of operating a computer and performing tasks autonomously. Unlike traditional chatbots that only generate responses, the system can execute workflows such as tracking dashboards, managing advertising budgets and coordinating campaigns across platforms.
In a post on X, the account representing the tool said it had built an AI marketing agent that can run several campaign-related tasks automatically.
“Perplexity Computer replaced $225K/yr in marketing tools in a single weekend,” the post said. “We built an AI marketing agent that scans hourly, manages budgets, detects fatigue, and coordinates several campaigns end to end. In one test run, it made 224 micro-optimizations to our ad stack.”
How the system works
A screen recording shared online showed the agent operating on a marketing dashboard that managed more than $8 million in advertising spending across platforms including Meta, Google and TikTok.
The interface displayed campaign metrics such as subscriber acquisition, customer acquisition cost trends, performance by channel, audience demographics and advertising creatives used for health supplement campaigns.
