REDMOND, Wash. (WCSC) – Microsoft released the Xbox gaming console 24 years ago Saturday.
Microsoft CEO Bill Gates ventured into the video game market on Nov. 15, 2001, after fears the consoles would soon compete with personal computers. During that time, only the Japanese companies Sony and Nintendo dominated the market.
Now 24 years later and four versions later the company is working on producing the next generation of hardware.
