The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has accused China of stealing “industrial-scale” AI technology in a damning memorandum just weeks before US President Donald Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, China.
“The US has evidence that foreign companies, particularly in China, are conducting large-scale distillation campaigns to steal American AI. We will take action to protect American innovation,” OSTP Director Michael Kratsios wrote in an X post on Thursday US time.
Mr. Kratsios accused China and other foreign companies of using tens of thousands of proxies in a coordinated effort to siphon off American AI innovations. Fox NewsReports.
“Foreign companies built on such fragile foundations should have little confidence in the integrity and reliability of the models they create,” Mr. Kratsios wrote.
