Oracle’s reported March 31 layoff of an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 employees has triggered employee criticism over severance terms, particularly the company’s decision not to accelerate unvested stock grants that some workers said were worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Former employees also raised concerns about Oracle classifying some hybrid workers as remote employees during the layoffs, while a petition signed by at least 90 workers urged the company to match severance packages previously offered by Meta, Microsoft and Cloudflare during AI-related restructurings.
