Artificial intelligence company Anthropic says it has been ordered by the U.S. government to block all foreigners from accessing some of its advanced AI models, citing national security concerns.
This came just a day after a coalition of US prosecutors launched a comprehensive investigation into OpenAI, a source familiar with the matter said.
The limitations to Anthropic apply to its artificial intelligence models Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
The company said it received the export control directive on Friday local time from the government, which did not provide specific details about its national security concerns.
In a statement, Anthropic said it understands that the government believes it has learned of a method to circumvent or “jailbreak” Fable 5.
