The industry criticizes the “untrue” threats by large technology companies to invest in copyright

The Australian government should ignore claims from artificial intelligence giants such as Anthropic and OpenAI that local copyright laws prevent them from investing heavily in data centers, say media and entertainment industry leaders, who argue it is an attempt to avoid paying for content.

The issue of copyright reform has returned to the political agenda after Deputy Technology Minister Andrew Charlton met Dario Amodei, chief executive of $538 billion AI giant Anthropic, in Delhi this week to encourage him to invest in local data center infrastructure.
