If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to an event at Madison Square Garden in New York – such as an NBA Finals game – your face will be scanned by a facial recognition system, among other things.
Large venues are increasingly using the technology. Some, like Madison Square Garden, use it for surveillance purposes, others, like Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, to allow visitors optional entry without a ticket.
The use of facial recognition technologies is increasing and is becoming more common in everyday life, from public buses to public buildings. The Transportation Security Administration has deployed the latest facial recognition technology at security checkpoints at numerous airports.
