Indian Startup News on Instagram: “The New York Times has filed a lawsuit alleging that AI search startup Perplexity, founded by IIT Madras graduated Aravind Srinivas, repeatedly violated its copyrights by using Times content without permission. According to the lawsuit filed on Friday, the US-based media giant said it had contacted Perplexity multiple times over the last 18 months, demanding the company cease using its articles unless a licensing agreement was reached. However, Perplexity allegedly continued to use the material in its responses and summaries. This marks the second major lawsuit filed by The New York Times against AI companies. In 2023, the newspaper sued OpenAI and Microsoft, claiming their AI models, including ChatGPT, were trained on millions of Times articles without compensation. Both companies have disputed the allegations. #AI #PerplexityAI #NewYorkTimes #Copyright #Indianstartupnews”
