U.S. stock futures fell on Thursday as Oracle (ORCL) The gains revived concerns about AI trading and took the wind out of it Rally on Wall Street that followed that The Federal Reserve’s recent interest rate cut.
Contracts on the S&P 500 (ES=F) and the Nasdaq 100 (NQ=F) fell by 0.8% and 1.2%, respectively. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures (YM=F), which includes fewer technology stocks, saw a more modest decline of 0.4%.
Oracle’s shares fell more than 10% after the IPO Quarterly sales fell short of expectations. That sparked new concerns about demand for its cloud infrastructure products as investors waited for signs of a larger AI bubble. Oracle’s growing debt and dependence on OpenAI (OPAI.PVT) to meet it high sales targets have proven worrisome for Wall Street.
