Shreveport leaders call  billion Amazon investment a milestone

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – Amazon is investing another $6 billion in a data center in northwest Louisiana. The new facility will sit on Resilient Technology Park.

The investment brings Amazon’s total spending to $18 billion across projects in Caddo and Bossier parishes.

Officials call announcement a milestone

Shreveport leaders are calling the $6 billion announcement a major milestone for the region. It is in addition to the two projects Amazon first announced in February for Caddo and Bossier parishes.

The North Louisiana Economic Partnership expects the projects to generate hundreds of construction jobs, which leaders say will bring economic growth to the region.

“When we’re looking at a 3 to 5-year buildout, when you have 22 hundred people doing construction, that’s a lot of tax dollars turning over in Shreveport and Caddo Parish,” said Justyn Dixon, CEO of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership.
