Samsung is reportedly testing deeper integration of the Perplexity AI assistant on Galaxy devices, including a dedicated voice command. The feature, if rolled out, could debut with future Galaxy models and upcoming One UI updates.
Samsung may be exploring a new way for users to interact with artificial intelligence on its Galaxy smartphones. Industry reports indicate the company is working on adding Perplexity as an AI assistant on select Galaxy devices, potentially supported by a custom voice trigger such as “Hey Plex.” If implemented, the feature would allow users to summon the assistant hands-free, similar to existing wake words used by other AI services on Android.
Evidence of this development has emerged from a recent analysis of the Perplexity app’s Android code. The review identified references suggesting built-in support for hotword activation, including the ability to trigger the assistant even when the device screen is turned off. These findings point to a more seamless, always-available AI experience on compatible Samsung smartphones.
