Samsung Electronics has unveiled the next phase of Galaxy AI, placing partner integration, particularly with Perplexity AI, at the centre of its system-level strategy. Perplexity will serve as an additional AI agent on upcoming flagship Galaxy devices, activated through the wake phrase “Hey Plex” or by pressing and holding the side button.
The company says this deeper embedding across Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, Calendar and select third-party apps will enable smoother, multi-step workflows without manual app switching.
System-level, not app-level
Samsung emphasized that Galaxy AI operates at the operating-system framework level, understanding context and reducing the need for repeated commands. This approach, the company says, allows multiple AI agents to work cohesively while maintaining a consistent user experience across the device.
Growing shift toward multiple agents
Samsung pointed to research showing that nearly eight in 10 users now depend on more than two types of AI agents depending on the task, from search to productivity to content creation. As users increasingly mix assistants, Samsung says Galaxy AI is evolving to accommodate choice rather than restrict users to a single AI model.
“Galaxy AI acts as an orchestrator, bringing together different forms of AI into a single, natural, cohesive experience,” said Won-Joon Choi, President, COO and Head of the R&D Office, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics.
