Nvidia spent the back half of October 2026 doing something it rarely has to do: publicly denying that one of its own graphics cards is dead. The GeForce RTX 5090, the company’s $1,999 flagship, vanished from Nvidia’s own online marketplace by October 15, disappeared from Best Buy’s shelves, and got reclassified as “Not Carried” at Micro Center, according to Tom’s Hardware. Resale listings on Amazon climbed as high as $8,500, more than four times the card’s launch price, while a Brazilian distributor separately reported that two pallets of Zotac RTX 5090 cards worth roughly $470,000 went missing at a São Paulo airport.
