IIf you happen to stumble across Time magazine’s YouTube account, perhaps because you’re a time traveler from the 1970s who doesn’t quite understand how the present works, you’ll be presented with what many believe represents the avant-garde of entertainment as we know it.
“On This Day… 1776” is a series of short videos depicting the American Revolutionary War. What’s special about “On This Day” is that it was made by Darren Aronofsky’s studio Primordial Soup. What is also interesting is that it was created with AI. The third thing that makes it interesting is that it’s terrible.
In the first episode, which lasts three and a half minutes, George Washington raises a new flag over Prospect Hill in defiance of King George III. According to the video’s description, it’s the moment when “rebellion becomes determination.” And if this bunch of ChatGPT-sounding slogans scares the life out of you, wait until you actually watch the show…
