Qantas and a key union are at loggerheads over job security as a series of job cuts linked to the introduction of new technology take place at the airline’s Sydney headquarters.
The Australian Services Union said workers had been told they would be replaced by AI, although the union did not provide details of that claim, which the airline denies.
Qantas and the union are due to meet on Monday for consultations after 30 jobs were cut at the company’s headquarters last week.
While the 30 roles have been axed as Qantas simplifies its management structure, the consultation will determine whether staff who held those positions can be redeployed elsewhere…
